Concert Bands

The Rowlett High School Band Program comprises three concert band ensembles: Wind Symphony, Honors Band, and Symphonic Band. Every student who auditions for the Rowlett High School Band will be placed in an ensemble.

Ensemble placement is based on a myriad of factors and criteria including: the audition itself, participation in the All-State process, participation in the Solo and Ensemble Competition, participation in the Music Enrichment Program, and general conduct and character.

Jazz Band

The Rowlett Jazz Program traces its tradition of excellence to the school's founding. The Rowlett Band Program comprises of two Jazz Ensembles. Jazz Ensemble I rehearses during school as a regularly scheduled classroom course. While, Jazz Ensemble II rehearses after-school.

The Jazz Program is available to students who play saxophone, trombone, trumpet, and rhythm section instruments such as piano, bass, rhythm guitar, and drumset.

Placement into these ensembles is based on an audition, participation in other aspects of the Rowlett Band Program, and overall conduct.

Percussion

The Percussion Section is an extension of the Rowlett Band Program. While percussion students participate in each concert band ensemble like their peers, percussion students have the opportunity to participate in other facets. For example, in the Fall Semester the Percussion Section participates in the Marching Band either by performing as a member of the Drum Line or in the Front Ensemble. During the Spring Semester, the Percussion Section participates in Solo and Ensemble events are generally more rigorous in nature than the music they learn and perform in their concert band settings.

Color Guard

The Color Guard is an important component of the Rowlett Band Program.

During the Fall Semester, the Color Guard performs on the field giving visual interest to the production using flags, rifles, sabres, and other props as well as dance and other choreography. The Color Guard performs with the Marching Band at all competitions, games, pep rallies, and other events.

During the Spring Semester, the Winter Guard performs as their own entity competiting at indoor compeitions throughout the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex.
